Due to permit restrictions, the race has a cut-off time of 5.10pm for all competitors that correlates to an average minimum speed of 24km/h. A Sag Wagon will travel behind the race at all times and has been instructed to reach key points on the course at set times. If a rider falls behind the wagon and is likely to remain there, the rider will be given the option of boarding the SAG or requested to hand over their transponder and number to the race official.
‘Pace Riders’ have been engaged to support riders in completing the event in under the 9hr 30min cut-off time. They will depart with the ‘Challenge’ category and remain at the rear of the field.
Stage presentations for media (including the awarding of classification jerseys) will be conducted within 15 minutes of the race finish adjacent to the finish line.
Prizes will be awarded for Overall, King/Queen of the Mountains, Sprint and Team Classifications across the Divisions.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the official Presentation Dinner will not be held in 2021.
There are four refreshment stations on the Grafton to Inverell course.
There are two neutral manned water stations located at the following points:
Event volunteers will distribute water bottles for riders at these points.
Subject to a final review of COVID-19 requirements, there are two rider supported ‘feed stations’ located at the following points:
Rider supporters can hand out drinks and nutrition from the designated ‘Feed Zone’ only. Rider supporter vehicles must display the rider number sticker provided for their rider and proceed directly to the Mt Mitchell station from Grafton prior to 7am. Once they have serviced their rider at Mt Mitchell, they must proceed directly to the Glen Innes station following the vehicle deviation route indicated by pink arrows.
Riders who do not have a supporter to assist with feeding at the feed stations can arrange for their ‘feed bags’ to be delivered to the stations ahead of the race and event staff will assist with feeding. The feed bags must be clearly marked with the rider’s surname, race number, race category and relevant feed station location (e.g. Mt Mitchell or Glen Innes). The bags must be dropped off at the event registration desk no later than 6.45am on Saturday morning.
Note: It is possible that the feeding arrangements may change for Division 2 and 3 competitors. If compliance with COVID-19 requirements is difficult, the supported ‘feed stations’ will utilize volunteer event staff only to manage rider feeding. Riders will have the option of having their feed bags (clearly marked with race number and name) dropped off at these stations, or will be able to take the water, electrolyte drink and nutrition provided at the station. In this situation, rider supporter vehicles will be instructed to depart Grafton prior to 7am and travel directly to Inverell.
Roving motorbikes will be on the course to provide additional water between the foot of the Gibraltar Range and the Mt Mitchell station.
David Reid Homes Grafton to Inverell feed bags will soon be available for purchase.
Friday 7 May 2021 4:00pm – 6:00pm – Memorial Park, Prince Street Grafton.
